Ever thought about trying your hand at making your very own candy or chocolate? You'd be delighted to know that you can do exactly that with the help of ChefJet, a new 3D printer launched by 3D Systems.
Unlike the 3D printers which we have heard of by now that churn out objects made of various (inedible) materials, the ChefJet creates sweet confections with ingredients such as sugar and flavours like chocolate, vanilla, mint and even watermelon. Let your culinary imagination run free with this one - think about all the sugar novelties, cake toppers and custom chocolates you can create.
All you need is to make your own digital candy design, send it to the printer, and you're ready to savour your own candy creations. It's perfectly fine if you're not that tech savvy, 3D Systems provides its own special cookbook of digital designs that you can easily choose from.
While the ChefJet only prints out in monochrome, the bigger ChefJet Pro adds colour to your confections. You'll be amazed at the amount of detail the ChefJet Pro is able to produce.
Priced at USD $5000 for the smaller ChefJet and double that for the latter, these printers sure aren't for your typical consumer. Well, at least not yet. We hope 3D Systems will eventually develop one more catered to confectionery-lovers like us!
